...restaurant on the move
Guests were greeted with champagne in the Cloisters and Chapter House before a 3 course dinner in the Nave. The Cathedral choir provided a wonderful programme of ancient and modern music and a silent auction raised further funds for the appeal. The auction prizes included a truly unique opportunity to have a gargoyle portait carved and placed on the Cathedral building and an answerphone message recorded personally by Joanna Lumley, both of which prompted enthusiastic bidding. This fabulous location provided its own special challenges and Red Herring would like to thank the Cathedral staff and their wonderful team of volunteers whose hard work helped make the evening such a great success. If you would like to become a friend of Canterbury Cathedral and have the opportunity to attend exclusive events such as this please contact the Cathedral on 01227 865292 or visit their website at www.canterbury-cathedral.org/friends Our thanks also to the team at Wessex Cater Hire and Buchannan events for their tireless assistance and to Patsy, Heather and Angela at the Cathedral and to Canon Condry for making us so welcome.
"I have no doubt that you have recieved many expressions of thanks for Friday evening. Even though we only met once before I handed over the reins, I wanted to add my congratulations for the quality of food and service. Given that the whole event was over 45 minutes behind schedule I thought what was produced and the manner in which it was served was even more exceptional. Very well done indeed Bet wishes Angela Prior" |
