The 'Scramble on the Bramble', in aid of the RNLI, saw a plucky group of youngsters play a 'world first' rugby match on the most temporary pitch you can imagine at 6 o'clock in the morning. The Bramble sandbank appears twice a year for only 45 minutes before disappearing again beneath the waves so two fast and furious, though somewhat damp, matches were played by the under 7s and the under 8s before they were 'rescued' by the RNLI's marine landing craft. Back on dry land Red Herring Catering provided a hearty cooked breakfast for 200 tired, wet and hungry rugby players and their intrepid supporters, with ingredients kindly donated by Waitrose, Lymington. Congratulations to all involved and many thanks to all the sponsors and volunteers who helped make the event such a success www.newmiltonrugby.co.uk www.balticlifejackets.com www.calshot.com www.rnli.org.uk www.army.mod.uk/rlc/units/17port www.seastart.co.uk www.waitrose.com www.hampshire.police.uk/internet/so/operations/marine www.solentcoaches.co.uk www.redherringevents.com |
